With the frame all set and exhaust on, went and focused on one of the other big changes in the truck. The truck had the original granny gear 4 speed in it. It shifted good, but was a leaky mess. We had a nice rebuilt Muncie M21 4 speed out of a 65 impala and decided to stab that behind the motor to keep the 3 pedals and get a little better drive ability out of the truck.

With mounting the new 4 speed into the truck, the old shifter setup on the 65 impala would obviously not work. So used a left over Hurst comp plus out of my 68 camaro and a handle for a 55-57 Chevy and now can row all the gears with the stock seat! With this as well figured my stock bolt in high floor hump wasnt really needed anymore, so found a buddy with a complete low hump floor section. He only needed the rockers, so I bought and cut the hump out of the floor to make a bolt in low hump for the truck. Originally on these trucks the low hump floor is one piece with no cover like a high hump, but Chevy pretty much just took a low hump and cut a hole to mount the high hump as my new low hump fit perfect once trimmed up. Also added a new cross member as well for the transmission as the factory setup used the bell housing as the mount point and let the tranny hang. I had to swap bell housings so needed a rear mount.
